My Story - Shehzad Masih

From Sialkot,
Injury Level  L2,
DOB : 25-11-1980,
Incident on 10-06-2004.

I belong to Sialkot, I was a employee in a factory, once I was going back to my home after the job time, on the way, some thieves stopped me and try to rob me, and then I did little bit resistance and then they fired on me. They fired me on my belly and this goes to my backbone. I felt down when they hit me. I don’t know how much time I was there. After some time the police vehicle was on the way for its routine’s duty patrolling.  They  picked me up and take me to the local hospital and then called my home to reached in hospital. So doctors did operation of my belly and removed the bullet, they kept me for 28 days in hospital. After that for the treatment of my spinal cord they shifted to the another private hospital in the Lahore. Here they did operation of my backbone and then convinced me that I will recover 100% soon. But I didn’t felt anything positive after couple of weeks then doctors did second operation of my backbone, but nothing went good enough.

So they kept me there for a month and then shifted me back to home. Many time I faces the bedsores and then they recovered as time passes.

I am married and I have one son. My wife is house wife, she cares me a lot and to my kids also. My brothers help me financially. I am living with my mother and brothers. I don’t have any kind of recovery for my spinal cord injury. I am using internal catheter for my bladder management. I am hopeful with the mercy of Allah that He will recover me very soon.

My Story - Karamat Masih

From Gujranwala,
Injury Level C5,
DOB : 12-02-1974,
Incident on 13-03-1998.

I belong to a village of Gujranwala, and I am a farmer. Once on 1998, I was going back from my work to home, on the way my foot slipped and felt down very badly and this caused my Spinal Cord Injured at level C5. Hurriedly I went to hospital but it was too late. Here I got first aid and then they referred me to Civil hospital Lahore. My MRI also said this about my Spinal Cord Injury at level C5. I was admitted there for 45 days and then I shifted back to home. One thing is more here, Doctors also operate me and placed rods and screws in my back to prevent more damage. But I think this thing went wrong because I think this operation losses my sensation from two fingers of hand.

Now I even cannot feed myself, but I didn’t give up. I am using super catheter which is directly inserted in my bladder from the place of belly button. I am totally depended to some one’s help.

I am married and I have two sons, my wife is a house wife. We belongs to a poor family, I even cannot help myself how could I take care of my sons and family. Here the only thing that I have is the only hope. I pray to God to recover me and make me able to take good care of my kids, and may I able to give them a good future.

Complains....!!

We recently met with many SCI patients, much patients complains about there bed-sores and bladder infections. This is a wast topic to discuss, not only for SCI patients but  also for many other patients who are paraplegic or quadriplegic, they can be victim of any strock and any thing with mentally or physically disability.

Why shouldn't we discuss with all our mates who are on bed? We think this can help us at-least to prevent many things, this is what we can only do here. At-least we should discuss this thing with other patients whom we know. Lets start it with home. :)
